Body of camper found in river in Stites

The body of camper who was reported missing in April has been recovered from the river in Stites.

KIVI-TV reports that the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office was notified on Friday afternoon about a body in the river at the dike in Stites.

Deputies recovered the body of Burke Despain, a 64-year-old man from Kalispell, Montana.

Despain had been reported missing on April 9 in the area of Hwy 14 milepost 21, where he and his son Jason were camped. His son woke up the following morning and was unable to locate his father.

Despain was taken to Blackmer’s Funeral Home and his family was notified.
