Man arrested in Garden City after he’s found sleeping in stolen car
A transient man was arrested Sunday morning in Garden City on multiple charges of stolen items, including a stolen vehicle, according to a Garden City Police Department release.
Jason D. Hatch, 36, was found asleep in a “suspicious vehicle” with an unidentified woman in the 8000 block of Atwater Drive around 8:45 a.m. The vehicle’s license plate was reported stolen and, upon searching the vehicle, officers found “a stolen firearm, several stolen credit cards, a stolen computer, and illegal narcotics,” according to the release.
Police said the car contained many items, and they’re unsure if the items are related to the other charges. GCPD is still investigating the case.
According to the release, the woman was released with no charges. Hatch faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, and four counts of possession of stolen property. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of stolen property.
Police said Hatch will be arraigned on Monday, May 16.
