UPDATED: Boise County’s Arrowrock Road no longer closed by rock slide, but expect delays
A rock slide that was reported to Boise County officials Sunday morning hasn’t yet been fully cleared, but Arrowrock Road is open, officials said Monday.
County Road Supervisor Bill Jones told the Statesman one lane is open, and motorists should prepare for delays of up to five minutes. He’s hoping crews will have the road fully cleared by Thursday.
The slide left an estimated 1,000 yards of rock on the two-lane road. Jones said they’re dumping the rock at a waste site about a half mile away but they’ll be talking with forest service officials about other sites they can truck the rock to.
The slide is at mile marker 19 — 19 miles from Idaho Highway 21. Jones said he was told it occurred on Saturday but the county wasn’t notified until Sunday. No one was injured by the rock slide.
Arrowrock Road is the only route to Atlanta in the winter, Jones said. The town is about 68 miles from Highway 21.
