Homeowner shoots, kills armed intruder in eastern Oregon

A 49-year-old Boise man died after he was shot by a homeowner after a short scuffle in Vale, KBOI-TV, Channel 2, reports.

The Malheur County Sheriff’s Office Monday identified Christopher Arnold Rubey as the alleged armed intruder who was fatally shot by a resident Sunday morning, KBOI reports.

The home invasion was reported around 7:26 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Washington Street West in Vale, deputies report. No details were provided about the struggle between a male resident and the alleged intruder, KBOI reports. The man who shot Rubey has not been identified but likely will not face charges, KBOI reports.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident and will be assisted by the Oregon State Police crime lab. Idaho State Police executed a search warrant at Rubey's home in Boise, KBOI reports.
