Service scheduled Friday for retired Boise firefighter killed in Arrowrock wreck

A funeral for retired Capt. Michael McNeill of the Boise Fire Department will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 S. Latah St., in Boise.

McNeill, 64, died Saturday evening after his vehicle rolled on Arrowrock Road, northeast of Boise. He was going target shooting when the wreck occurred.

McNeill spent 27 years with the fire department, retiring in 2005. He served as a training officer, was a charter member of the department’s dive team and served on the board of the Boise Fire Department Credit Union.

He also served for many years as the chairman for the Boise Burnout Fund, operated by members of Union Local 149.

McNeill is survived by his wife, Patty, children Mitzi Briggs, Tony McNeill, Angela McNeill, Tom McNeill and seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the burnout fund.
