The Downtown Boise Association announced that Boise Police Department Communications Director Lynn Hightower will become its new executive director.

Hightower officially starts on Dec. 1, two weeks after leaving her BPD job.

She replaces Kären Sander, who headed the DBA since 2004 and left earlier this year to join the commercial real estate team at Cushman & Wakefield, focusing on Downtown real estate.

Hightower joined BPD in 2003 after nearly 17 years in television and broadcast news, many of those years in Boise where she was a reporter, anchor and news director for KIVI Channel 6.

The DBA is a business improvement district founded by the city and business owners in 1987. It oversees Downtown’s management, from plantings to garbage pickup, and produces events such as the Twilight Criterium, Alive After Five, First Thursday and the city’s tree lighting.

The organization also works with Capital City Development Corp., the Ada County Highway District, the mayor’s office and other organizations on task forces and committees that address issues from parking, to homelessness.
