Crash on I-84 east of Boise leaves two cows dead; humans OK

A Honda Element struck two cows on eastbound Interstate 84 early Monday morning, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

No one in the vehicle was transported to the hospital, but the two cows died, sheriff’s spokesman Patrick Orr. The vehicle was totaled.

The crash was reported at 3:27 a.m. Monday at milepost 71, near the Boise Stage Stop, an emergency dispatcher said.

Both eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for about two hours for cleanup, Orr said. He said the area where the collision occurred was open range, so the owner of the livestock won’t face any liability.
