Fire crews make significant progress in Boise Foothills after days of rapid growth
The Claremont Fire held overnight, remaining at 6,530 acres Thursday morning as firefighters successfully kept the blaze within established containment lines.
The U.S. Wildland Fire Service said crews prevented additional spread overnight, marking a positive shift in efforts to contain the wildfire burning in the Boise Foothills.
All evacuation orders have been reduced to Level 1, meaning residents should stay ready in case conditions change, according to the Boise County Sheriff’s Office.
To protect firefighters and the public, 8th Street, Rocky Canyon Road and Ridge Road still have closures. Bureau of Land Management-managed lands, roads and trails also remain closed.
Fire officials expect the blaze to be fully contained by 6 p.m. Sunday, July 12.
The cause of the Foothills fire remains under investigation, though Chad Cline, the Bureau of Land Management’s fire information officer, told the Idaho Statesman on Tuesday the blaze was “human-caused.”
