The Ada County coroner released the name of a 15-year-old boy who was killed in a crash with a motorcycle while riding an electric bicycle in Boise.

Sterling Thomas, of Boise, was pronounced dead at 9:21 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, after being taken to a hospital for injuries sustained when an e-bike he was driving and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of Phillippi Street and Morris Hill Road, near the Boise Bench.

Matt Thomas, Sterling’s uncle, created a GoFundMe to help cover his funeral expenses.

The motorcycle driver was hospitalized with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” the Boise Police Department wrote in a news release at the time. A teenage girl riding on the e-bike with Thomas received minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital.

Boise Police wrote that the motorcycle appeared to have been traveling north and the e-bike heading west when the crash took place. No one was charged with a crime, though an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Thomas was driving a 750-watt pedaled e-bike, according to police.
