New online payment portal for Boise utilities opens. Here’s when, how to sign up
Boise residents now have a new way to pay their sewer, trash and geothermal heating bills.
Boise residents can expect an upgraded online platform for utility payments, the city of Boise announced in a news release Monday, Feb. 2.
“The city of Boise is transitioning to a new utility billing payment platform in 2026 to offer more secure, convenient payment options on an easy-to-use system,” the city said on its website.
Here’s what to know:
When should I switch to new Boise utility payment platform?
Boise’s new utility bill pay platform was available as of Monday.
The city of Boise said it’s “requiring users to create a new account to continue online and automatic payments” for their city utility bills.
Residents who currently make their utility payments online will be required to transition by either Wednesday, Feb. 25, or Wednesday, Mar. 25, to avoid late fee interest of 1.5%, according to the city website.
The deadline depends on which month you receive a utility bill in.
Will city charge more to use upgraded bill pay system?
The system upgrade does not include any extra convenience fees, according to the city website.
However, it will include the following features:
- Digital wallets (PayPal, Venmo, Apple and Google Pay)
- Credit and debit cards
- 24-hour pay-by-phone
- AutoPay
- eCheck
How do I set up a new account?
“Creating your new account is easy!” the city of Boise said.
To register, you’ll need your utility bill account number and an email address, according to the website.
You can find your account number on your Boise utility bill.
I pay my bill by mail. Does this affect me?
According to the city website, residents who pay by mail will not be required to create an account.
“If you currently receive a paper copy of your bill, you will continue to receive a mailed paper copy,” the city of Boise said. “You can help us meet our climate goals, reduce costs and reduce waste by going paperless when you register for your new account.”
