Sarah Miller joins the Idaho Statesman’s visuals team after spending nine years at the Tyler Morning Telegraph newspaper in Tyler, Texas.

Miller brings 10 years of visual storytelling experience to cover sports, lifestyle, hard news and community events in the greater Boise area and the state. Her past projects span everything from Little League baseball to searches for missing children to exploring the life of a Texas lawyer diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.

Miller seeks to use her photo and video skills to humanize the major news of the day by showing everyday people navigating today’s challenges.

In 2018, she received the Barbara Jordan Media Award from the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities for her photographs of a family and adult daughter, who lives with profound special needs. In 2019 she won first place in the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Specialty Reporting category for her series “Empowering Mothers: Improving Birth Outcomes.”

Sarah grew up in a Michigan suburb near Toledo, Ohio, and is a graduate of Central Michigan University.

“I’ve always felt passionate about sharing the world around me through photographs and video,” she said. “It’s one way I can help foster connection and understanding in my community.”
