One dead, one injured after being ejected from vehicle in rollover crash on Sunday

One person died and another was injured after being ejected from their minivan during a rollover crash early Sunday morning, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.

Thirty-one-year-old Scotty Abbott, of Nampa, was driving a Toyota Sienna southbound on Friends Road south of Greenleaf around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the crash occurred. Police said Abbott went onto the right shoulder of the road south of the Middle Road intersection and overcorrected. The vehicle rolled, landing on the left shoulder of the road.

Abbott and his passenger, 34-year-old Tannesa Cavaness, of Payette, were ejected from the minivan. Neither wore seat belts at the time of the crash, officials said. Ambulances took both of them to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where Abbott died of injuries sustained in the crash. No additional information on Cavaness’ condition was immediately available.
