You already knew Idaho drivers were bad. Now an insurance website has confirmed it

We’ve all seen bad drivers on the road.

Those who think turn signals are optional. Motorists who make merging look harder than brain surgery. Road bullies who ride bumpers.

But are Idaho drivers really bad? Yes, according to QuoteWizard, the online insurance comparison website — and they’re getting worse.

Idaho was ranked the ninth-worst driving state in the country in the survey, which factored in crashes, speeding tickets, DUI, citations and fatalities. We’re getting worse, not better. The state was ranked 14th last year.

Western states ranked high on the list of worst drivers:

▪  1. California

▪  2. Minnesota

▪  3. Utah

▪  4. South Carolina

▪  5. Washington

Five of the 10 worst cities for driving in the U.S. are in California, with Sacramento topping the list, QuoteWizard said.

“An increase in citations and DUIs helped drive the state to the number one spot in terms of bad drivers,” the company said.

Utah was the worst state in 2016. Traffic deaths have increased annually over the past four years.

Where are the best drivers?

▪  1. Rhode Island (second year in a row)

▪  2. Florida

▪  3. Mississippi

▪  4. Michigan

▪  5. Arkansas

Our insurance premiums are affected by who those around us drive. Live in a city or state with a lot of bad drivers, you’re going to pay more.
