Pets rescued from hurricane brought to Idaho Humane Society
The Idaho Humane Society took in 22 dogs and four cats on Friday that came from a Texas shelter in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and flooding in the Houston area.
The animals came from San Antonio Pets Alive, a Texas shelter that has been particularly overwhelmed with animals in the aftermath the hurricane. Dog Is My CoPilot, a nonprofit animal rescue air transportation organization, flew the animals to Boise. This is the only transfer of dogs and cats affected by the hurricane.
In general, Idaho Humane Society has 1,000 dogs being transferred from other shelters this year. At least 15 dogs transferred Friday will be available for adoption by Sunday.
