Grimes Creek is running very high — but one driver decided to cross it.

It didn’t end well.

The Ford Bronco was abandoned in the middle of the creek. Derrick Hawkins, who lives in the area, shot video of the vehicle last Friday.

“It’s not every day you see that,” he said.

“Where I’m standing, there used to be a log bridge that went across the creek. It washed out many years ago,” Hawkins said.

It’s on Road 364B1 where it crosses Grimes Creek, Boise County Sheriff Jim Kaczmarek said.

“There is several ways around it — continuing on the main Grimes Creek Road or going around to Meadow Creek Road,” Kaczmarek said.

Someone who found the vehicle in the creek last week reported it to authorities. Kaczmarek said he assigned a deputy to look into it but wasn’t sure if it had been towed.

“It is a fairly common occurrence this time of year at that spot, people trying unsuccessfully to cross,” he said. “It’s particularly high this year with the snow pack being what it is.”
