One dead in tractor/car collision near Caldwell
One person died and four others were injured when a van struck a slow-moving tractor on Homedale Road near Caldwell on Sunday morning, according to a Canyon County Sheriff's Office press release.
According to the release, a van was following two eastbound tractors near the intersection of Homedale and Beet roads when the driver of the van attempted to overtake both tractors. The van struck the first tractor, ejecting its driver, according to the release. The van, carried by its momentum, struck the second tractor, which overturned and ejected its driver.
Authorities said five people were taken to West Valley Medical Center, where one of them later died from injuries. It's unclear whether the individual was traveling in the van or on one of the tractors. No names or conditions of patients have been released pending notification of next of kin.
