Idaho surpasses 300,000 COVID cases since start of pandemic, adding 951 cases, 17 deaths

Idaho reached another COVID-19 milestone on Monday, surpassing 300,000 cases since the pandemic reached the state in March 2020. The marker came as the state recorded hundreds of new cases and more than a dozen new deaths amid a post-surge decline.

Since Friday, Idaho had reported 951 new COVID-19 cases — enough to push the total number of cases in the state to 300,525. It took Idaho roughly 108 days to add 100,000 new cases (the state surpassed 200,000 cases on July 30). It took Idaho about 261 days to amass its first 100,000 cases and roughly 243 days for the next 100,000.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare also recorded 17 new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the illness to 3,752. The deaths were reported in the following counties: Ada (2 new, 803 total), Bannock (1 new, 195 total), Bear Lake (1 new, 14 total), Benewah (1 new, 28 total), Boise (1 new, 11 total), Bonner (2 new, 110 total), Boundary (2 new, 41 total), Canyon (4 new, 553 total), Gem (1 new, 65 total) and Kootenai (2 new, 420 total).

Officials estimate more than 131,000 people have recovered from the illness. More than 13,000 people have been hospitalized with COVID-19 and 2,200 have been admitted to intensive care.
