University of Idaho outbreak
U of I President Scott Green wrote a memo Monday saying the university identified several hot spots on Greek Row last week that resulted in eight fraternity-sorority chapters being placed in quarantine.
“Our infection rate for tests last week increased to 11.94%, but tests were targeted to known hot spots on Greek Row,” Green wrote. “Currently, the number of active positives is about 1% of the total Moscow-based U of I community, including students and employees.”
Green said faculty preferring to teach online this week may do so, but in-person instruction might be required by next Monday, Oct. 5.
Since the Moscow university started COVID-19 testing on Aug. 6, it has completed approximately 10,000 tests, Green said, and the overall positive rate is now 1.81%
