Ada County sees largest single-day increase in coronavirus cases in nearly two months
Ada County saw the largest single-day increase in confirmed coronavirus cases in nearly two months Saturday.
There were 16 new cases added in the Boise area for a state-leading 827 cases. It is the largest single-day jump since the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare announced 18 new confirmed cases in the county on April 20.
Idaho’s death toll from the coronavirus also grew by one to 88, as Eastern Idaho Public Health reported the first COVID-19 death in its district. The deceased is a female in her 80s from Bonneville County who had underlying health conditions. She had been hospitalized since June 4.
“We at EIPH share our deepest condolences with the patient’s family and friends for their loss — a loss felt by our entire community,” said EIPH Director Geri Rackow in a press release. “Now more than ever, we each need to do our part to take precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.”
Health and Welfare, Southeastern Idaho Public Health and Eastern Idaho Public Health reported a combined 34 new confirmed cases Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 3,056 cases.
Additional cases were added in Ada (16 new, 827 total), Bannock (4 new, 58 total), Bingham (1 new, 26 total), Bonneville (2 new, 52 total), Cassia (2 new, 119 total), Franklin (1 new, 14 total), Gooding (1 new, 49 total), Jerome (1 new, 177 total), Kootenai (1 new, 98 total), Minidoka (1 new, 87 total) and Washington (4 new, 49 total) counties.
