Idaho’s statewide total of confirmed coronavirus cases surpasses 1,900

Idaho’s confirmed coronavirus cases reached 1,909 on Saturday with the addition of 23 cases among eight counties.

Ada County shouldered the largest increase with 13 new cases for a total of 664, according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. IDHW also reported additional cases in Elmore (2 new, 29 total), Gooding (1 new, 10 total), Jerome (1 new, 45 total), Lincoln (2 new, 26 total), Minidoka (1 new, 8 total) and Twin Falls (4 new, 164 total) counties.

Canyon County’s confirmed case total was reduced by one to 243. It is likely that case was moved to another county, but information on the reduction was not available.

There are 156 “probable cases” throughout the state, an increase of one from Friday. Health and Welfare reports that 1,267 cases are “presumed recovered.”

In the past 24 hours, Health and Welfare added 22 hospitalizations and seven intensive care admissions due to the coronavirus to its website totals. IDHW does update information retroactively, so it is not clear what specific dates had an increase in admissions. There have been 200 hospitalizations and 83 ICU admissions statewide, according to IDHW.

Ada County’s 17th death from COVID-19 was announced Friday by Central District Health. Using updated demographic information on the IDHW website, the deceased individual was a male 80 or older.
