Ada County adds 17th coronavirus death; Central District Health debuts new data dashboard

Stage one of Gov. Brad Little’s four-stage plan to reopen Idaho’s economy began Friday, and the statewide confirmed cases and death toll from the coronavirus continued to climb.

A 17th death resulting from COVID-19 was reported in Ada County, according to Boise-based Central District Health’s website. Idaho has lost 64 residents to the virus.

CDH only issues a press release for the first COVID-19-related death in each county, and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare did not have updated demographic information on its website for the latest fatality.

Central District Health debuted a new “weekly data dashboard” that includes an epidemiological curve for Ada and Elmore counties, plus age and gender breakdowns for a majority of the cases, hospitalizations and deaths in the district.

Individuals ages 18-29 account for the most cases of any age range in the district with 186 cases. There have been 11 hospitalizations in the health district for patients 49 and younger, according to CDH.

The statewide number of confirmed coronavirus cases stands at 1,886, with new cases added Friday among three counties: Ada (9 new, 651 total), Canyon (6 new, 244 total) and Twin Falls (9 new, 160 total). Gooding and Minidoka each had one case removed when investigation revealed addresses were incorrect. The cases were transferred to the correct investigating agency, South Central Public Health District said.

There also are 155 “probable cases” throughout the state. Health and Welfare reports that 1,215 cases are “presumed recovered.”
