Reports show new Idaho coronavirus cases continue to fall; no new deaths (April 26)
Idaho health officials reported seven new cases of coronavirus infection across four counties on Sunday, with no additional deaths related to the virus.
According to the Idaho state coronavirus website, new cases were confirmed in the following counties: Blaine (2 new, 483 total), Canyon (2 new, 221 total), Kootenai (1 new, 60 total) and Twin Falls (2 new, 133 total). The Panhandle Health District website did not reflect the additional Kootenai County case when it was updated at noon on Sunday.
The seven new cases bring Idaho’s total number to 1,769. Officials reported 129 “probable cases” of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. That’s two more probable cases than were reported Saturday.
State data shows 19,867 Idahoans have been tested for COVID-19, meaning 8.9% of those tested have had the illness. Across the state, 56 people — or 3.1% of those diagnosed — have died of the disease.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported 169 hospitalizations among COVID-19 patients, as well as 71 patients who have been admitted to the ICU. More than 230 of the people diagnosed with the disease have been health care workers. The hospital and health care numbers are based on cases with completed investigations into contacts, not the full number of positives.
On Sunday, IDHW reported that 983 patients were “recovered” — a jump of nearly 60 from the previous day’s tally of 938.
