Two new cases of novel coronavirus confirmed by South Central Public Health on Wednesday bring the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Idaho to 11.

One new case is a male from Twin Falls County in his 80s. According to a press release, he was briefly hospitalized but is now “recovering well at home.” The second is a male from Blaine County in his 40s. He is recovering well at home from mild symptoms.

Blaine County, home to the Ketchum/Hailey resort area, has a state-leading five coronavirus cases. This is the first case in Twin Falls County. Ada County, home to Boise, has three.

SCPH also issued an update on the first four cases confirmed in its region — and indicated that out-of-area visitors might be responsible for the number of cases in Blaine County.

“Investigation shows transmission for the first three likely came from visitors to the area,” South Central Public Health’s press release said. “The point of transmission for the fourth is still under investigation.”

The women in the first four cases are recovering well, according to the release.

“We’ve contacted all known close contacts of these individuals. They are self-isolating at home and haven’t shown any symptoms,” Logan Hudson of SCPHD said in the release. “We will continue to investigate the movements of all confirmed cases to make sure everyone potentially exposed is being monitored.”

As of Wednesday, 468 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Idaho.
