Two sisters have opened Shift Boutique, a women’s clothing and accessories store, in the Downtown Boise space that previously was occupied by Barbara Barbara. The shop has its grand opening this weekend at 807 W. Bannock St.

Barbara Barbara closed last year after more than 30 years in business, because the shop’s namesake co-owners decided to retire.

When they heard Barbara Barbara was closing, sisters Kelsey Miller and Megan Miller knew it was time to pursue their dreams and open their own business.

“We both are originally from Boise but had been living in other cities for the past seven years,” Kelsey Miller said. “Moving back and opening this store was something we had always talked about and finally decided to make it happen.”

The Miller sisters grew up in West Boise and moved to larger cities after college. Kelsey went on to work at Target and, most recently, at Lyft in San Francisco. Megan worked at a women’s boutique in Portland.

“We both have moved back to open this store and excited to be Downtown,” Kelsey Miller said. “We looked at a lot of different spaces, and the 807 Bannock location was perfect. It also held a special place in our hearts since it was the location of Barbara Barbara, a place I definitely shopped at.”

Their new shop will carry brands such as BB Dakota and BCBG.

The grand opening this Friday and Saturday includes “giveaways, discounts and treats,” Kelsey Miller said.
