Idaho gas prices fall, bucking national trend
Idaho’s average pump price dropped 8 cents in the past month to $1.86 per gallon, according to an AAA Idaho report Wednesday.
The U.S. average gas price rose by 6 cents in the past week to $1.82 per gallon, signaling likely price increases heading into the summer, the report said.
The 4-cent gap between the state and nation was the smallest of 2016. Idaho prices have averaged about 20 cents more per gallon than the national average in the past year. Idahoans paid an average of $2.27 per gallon a year ago, when the national average was $2.45.
AAA Idaho projects average U.S. gas price to remain between $2.25 and $2.50 per gallon in 2016. Idaho’s average price in 2015 was $2.51. The U.S. average was $2.40
Today, a gallon of gas sells for an average of $1.87 in Boise, $1.85 in Nampa, $1.80 in Coeur d’Alene and Idaho Falls, $1.81 in Twin Falls, $1.89 in Lewiston and $1.86 in Pocatello.
