Thunder Mountain Line calls it quits

The kid-friendly tour train, which has operated out of Horseshoe Bend since 2001, is closing, the company announced Monday afternoon.

The announcement by TML Vice President Chris Bertel on the TML website and Facebook page made no mention of why Thunder Mountain Line is closing but expressed "great sadness and disappointment." Plans for 2016 excursions have been suspended, Bertel said.

The company started out of Cascade with Idaho Historical Railroads in 1998, then expanded the operation to Horseshoe Bend under Idaho Northern and Pacific Railroad, Bertel said in the announcement. The company operated numerous theme rides, including holiday, mystery and dinner excursions.
