Drake Cooper ascends magazine’s list for best places to work

Boise-based ad agency Drake Cooper climbed to No. 2 on Outside Magazine’s annual 100 Best Places to Work list.

Outside’s list includes companies from five categories: Gear, adventure and travel, wellness, culture and advertising. Vetting companies — including employee interviews — reviews factors such as corporate culture, policies and perks, role satisfaction, work environment and overall employee engagement.

The latest list marks the fourth-straight year Drake Cooper made the cut. The company ranked 26th, 11th and 19th.

Here’s what Outside wrote about the company:

The execs at Boise-based ad firm Drake Cooper trust their creatives and directors to work long hours (when they have to). In return, the office is dog friendly, and people can collaborate around the beer fridge or take a meeting while biking through Boise’s nearby greenbelt. Another perk: Employees and management make the effort to ensure (paid time off) is actually time off — if possible, email and calls are banned when an employee is out.

The company works in the Drake Cooper building at 416 S. Eighth St, as well as at a smaller Seattle office. The company lists 40 employees on its website.

In a blog post on Drake Cooper’s website, CEO Jamie Cooper said the company’s culture is built on trust more than the kind of perks listed in the blurb.

“No job here is small, and the big-hearted and enthusiastic find a home among us,” Cooper said. “We agree to collectively strive to make this the best place we’ve ever worked and to create jobs as big as our spirits. We build brands for the ambitious because we ourselves are ambitious.”
