Scam targets Idaho unemployment claimants
The Idaho Department of Labor is investiating a scam in which jobless benefit claimants — and possibly others — are receiving emails from an out-of-state firm called Unemployment Assist. The emails solicit personally identifiable information to initiate or complete claims for unemployment insurance benefits.
The emails are from info@unemployment-assist.com with the subject line of: Verification Required: 2nd Request. The department warns email recipients to not click on the links contained in the message.
All unemployment insurance claims must be filed directly with the department.
