The Hyde Perk Coffee House is a family-owned business, said Crystal Clark.
And by “family owned,” Clark means the whole family. She, her husband, her parents and her brother co-own the coffee shop that is expected to open in the coming weeks.
Hyde Perk will serve coffee in the space previously occupied by Hyde Park Books, at 1507 N. 13th St.
“I’ve been in the coffee business for 12 years,” Clark said. She managed three drive-through coffee shops in Spokane.

“We moved down here [in July] to be with family, and here we go, on this adventure of craziness” as small business owners, she said.
The new coffee shop won’t have a large outdoor seating area like the one at nearby Java Hyde Park, she said, “but our inside is going to be welcoming, homey feeling.”
The cafe will serve coffee from Waverly’s, a roaster in Spokane she’s worked with “for a long time,” Clark said.
