Valley Wide Cooperative absorbs Valley Co-Ops’ nine stores

Farmer-owned Valley Wide Cooperative expanded its presence in southern Idaho after merging with Valley Co-Ops and its nine Magic Valley stores.

Valley Wide Cooperative now operates 43 locations serving farmers, most in southern and eastern Idaho. The co-op also owns a store in Salmon as well as one in Oregon and three in Wyoming.

All locations will operate under the Valley Wide Cooperative name. Valley Wide Energy will control the division selling propane, bulk fuel and oil. Valley Agronomics will control farm product retail. The co-op now has about 3,000 members and about 550 employees.

Terms of the merger were not disclosed. The merger will take effect Sept. 1.

Farmers formed both co-ops in the 1930s.
