Below is the original story, published Feb. 13, 2025, under the headline, ”Joann, the fabrics and crafts chain, plans to close Boise, Moscow stores amid bankruptcy.”
Joann, the fabric and craft retail chain, is closing one of its stores in Boise.
The company asked for court authorization Wednesday to close about 500 stores across the country as part of its petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which would allow it to reorganize its debts and assets while continuing to operate.
Joann plans to shutter its stores at 3275 S. Federal Way in Boise and 1854 W. Pullman Road in Moscow as part of that restructuring.
Its other Idaho stores, including one at 1085 N. Milwaukee St. in Boise, are expected to remain open. Joann has other locations in Nampa, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Coeur d’Alene.
The company said in a news release that “right-sizing” its store footprint is a critical part of its path forward.
“After carefully reviewing all available strategic paths to address our ongoing industry, economic and financial challenges, Joann and its financial stakeholders determined that initiating a court-supervised sale process is the best course of action to maximize the value of the business,” Joann said.
