Got a story idea? Questions about our coverage? Have coffee with the Idaho Statesman editor
The journalism business is changing about as fast as the Treasure Valley.
And at the Idaho Statesman, we live at the intersection of those two dramatic trends.
But rarely do we get to share that perspective directly with our readers.
So if you’d like to know more about how we cover the Boise area, state politics, food and entertainment, Boise State football and more … or what it’s like to navigate this challenging time for news media … or how you can get us to investigate your story idea … join me for coffee on April 24.
I’m hoping this will be the beginning of a listening tour — a series of events designed to increase the connection between our newsroom and our readers, and in particular with the subscribers who make it possible for us to produce important work every day.
I’ll be at Caffe D’arte in the Warehouse Food Hall (370 S. 8th St. in Boise) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24.
I’ll provide the coffee. You provide your story ideas, thoughts on how we can best serve our community and questions about how we operate.
I hope to learn more about what interests you, and I hope you’ll learn more about our amazing staff that keeps pushing for answers to vital questions — whether at the Legislature, the governor’s office, the mayor’s office, the police department, the school system, or even the football field.
I’ve been working at the Statesman for nearly 28 years, and I dig through the data on what you’re reading every day. But I still bet you’ll have ideas I haven’t considered and perspectives that I need to hear to ensure we’re telling the stories that matter most to the people who live here.
Click here to RSVP, and if you can’t make it, feel free to send me an email with your thoughts at ccripe@idahostatesman.com or join me at a future event.
