Boise’s ‘worst’ school building to come down. A hotel in Meridian. Coming near you

The coronavirus crisis has slowed but not stopped development applications and business openings. The latest proposed developments, other construction projects and new businesses around the Treasure Valley:

Boise

The Boise School District received a permit to build a new school at the site of Valley View Elementary School, 3555 N. Milwaukee St., reports BuildZoom.com. The two-story building will have 54,700 square feet.

Valley View was built in 1969 and was ranked in 2016 as the worst elementary school in the district for educational adequacy. Voters in 2017 approved a school bond to fund the new school and other projects across the district.

The city of Boise is seeking a permit to build a picnic shelter at Quinn’s Pond, 3150 W. Pleasanton Ave. The project will cost an estimated $4,500.

Micron Technology obtained a permit to remodel the second floor of a 324,244-square-foot factory building into office space at its campus at 8000 S. Federal Way, BuildZoom.com reports.

The remodeled space would used for offices, with the occupant load increased from 700 people to 2,311. The estimated cost is $4.6 million.

CBH Homes has submitted an application to build a park at 6300 S. Cole Road.

The park would include soccer fields, basketball, bocce and pickleball courts, a play structure, picnic shelter and dog park, along with a swimming pool and community center.

Baby Blues and Pink leased 1,159 square feet of retail space on the ground floor of The Owyhee, an apartment building at 1109 W. Main St., reports TOK Commercial.

The city of Boise has delayed all in-person inspections “for projects involving existing occupied homes” until after April 17, according to an email from Mark Lavin, the city’s director of planning and development services, and Steve Burgos, the director of public works.

The delay affects residential remodels, repairs and additions, as well as HVAC, plumbing and electrical retrofits. Virtual inspections may be an option. Emergency repairs of power, heating, gas, water and sewer services will still occur.
