Found! Artwork returned to The Reef in Boise
The man who took a pencil drawing from a Downtown Boise bar on a night in late May returned the picture Thursday.
A former longtime employee, Cera Grindstaff, created the drawing of two hands holding four beer glasses. As a “labor of love” by their former employee, the drawing carried sentimental value to The Reef and Front Door Taphouse owner Chad Johnson and his wife.
The Statesman on Wednesday shared the bar’s security-camera video footage. The video showed three men walking into the building. On their way out later, one man stopped into the restroom at The Front Door and grabbed the picture.
The video was shared more than 100 times from The Reef’s Facebook page and more than 80 times from the Statesman’s Facebook page.
“Great news! The person who took the print returned it to us moments ago!” Johnson said in an email Thursday.
He said it seems the man or someone he knew noticed the news story.
What was the man thinking when he took the picture?
“He stated he had been drinking and just made a stupid mistake,” Johnson said.
