Meridian Pet of the Week: Mae

Mae
Mae

Mae, 1, is pure puppy. Just a larger version. She’s a gorgeous girl who is very sweet, but needs some help working on her manners. She’s been through quite a few changes in her young life and needs to find the person who is willing to take the time and patience to teach her the right way to do things. Mae is a smart gal who just needs some direction.

Mae gets along with other dogs just great when they’re all off leash. Cats, not so much. She’s never met kids, but we bet she’d like them. Probably older kids who can deal with her size and puppyness would be best. Her previous mommy took her to doggie day care a couple of times a week and she did great.! She knows lots of stuff, she knows sit, stay, come, down, roll over and …. she can wave.

Mae has lots of energy and would love a person or family that would include her in family activities like hiking and walks and maybe even agility. She’s high energy and needs that energy harnessed to be the best dog she can be. She’d be good with structure, training and positive reinforcement.

She has some challenges when she’s on a leash if she sees another dog. She gets nervous and anxious and doesn’t act very nice. She does great with other dogs when off leash, but this is something that her new person needs to be willing to work on with her.

Mae can also be a little anxious when left alone for a long time. She’s crate trained and that helps her to feel safe. She’s been through so many changes, she’s not sure what to make of it all. If kept engaged, given ‘tasks’ and a routine, she can do better. Routine and consistency is good for her.

If you’re looking for a high energy girl that wants nothing more than to be loved and cherished (and included in all the fun and games), she’s your girl.
