Ada County Pet of the Week: Gerri
Gerri, 7 months, is a spayed female Lop Rabbit. This little bunny is playful, curious and friendly. She’s been feeling a little cooped up as she is currently the longest resident in the Idaho Humane Society small animal room. She was surrendered back in May when her previous owner could no longer care for her. Gerri is usually very social with people and enjoys gentle pets between her ears and along her back. She spent some time in foster care to help alleviate some of her kennel stress and that helped a lot. She’s starting to feel stressed out again, so please be patient when you first meet her. Once she gets to know you and feels comfortable, she will come up to your hand for pets and will even eat out of your hand. Rabbits can live to be 10 years old so please take this into consideration before adopting. They require a specialized diet, regular handling and exercise where they can run around outside of their kennel. Rabbits can be litter-box trained, and can be very affectionate and loyal to their humans.
If you are interested in adopting Gerri (#38643002) you can find her at the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St. in Boise. They are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about Gerri or other adoptable pets, go to Idahohumanesociety.org
