Canyon County Pet of the Week: Luther

Luther
Luther
Luther, 9, is an 18-pound Parson Russell Terrier blend.

Luther entered the shelter as a stray at the end of April and adopted a month later. Unfortunately, he was returned two weeks later for not being great with cats. Don’t let his age fool you... This guy is active. He needs something to do to keep his brain and body engaged. He has the potential to be a champion agility dog. Luther would do great at structured barn-hunting activities.

Luther is house-trained, crate- and leash-trained. He knows sit and is learning to lay down. He likes to be inside with his people, but should have a home with children over the age of 6-years-old. Luther enjoys car rides, running, toys, fetch, tug, walks and even loves water. His most favorite thing to do right now — likely to cope with the kennel stress — is to tear stuffed toys apart. We are thinking to combine a stuffed toy with urban mushing to maybe watch him go.

Unfortunately, Luther is food possessive; he does not share nicely. He is best in a home as the only pet, but will definitely need to be fed separate from other pets. Luther’s special adoption fee of only $80 includes neuter, current vaccines, and microchip. He’s ready to go home today.

To meet Luther and other adoptable pets come to West Valley Humane Society, 5801 Graye Lane in Caldwell, 11 a.m.to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday or go to www.westvalleyhumanesociety.org.
