Meridian Pet of the Week: Pearl

Pearl
Pearl

We saw a picture of Pearl, 20 lbs underweight and looking hopeful, and we agreed to take her in. Here’s what we were told:

Pearl, is a 1.5-year-old, 20-pound spayed female who was recently returned because her adopters said she was aggressive to other dogs. But she is housetrained, good with children and knows basic commands and would benefit from being in the right environment and having a handler that can help with her dog-aggression issue.

At the shelter she briefly met a dog through a fence and stayed relatively calm. The other dog was calm, and while Pearl was tense, there were no overt aggression signs. But for now, Pearl might do best in a home with no other dogs. Pearl is friendly and playful with people and would be fine in a home with children.

Meet Pearl or other dogs at the Meridian Canine Rescue (formerly Meridian Valley Humane Society) to fill out an application. The rescue’s new location is 501 E. Scenery Lane, Meridian. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Call 794-0944 or go to meridianvalleyhumanesociety.org.
