Ada County Pet of the Week: Benson

Benson, 3 1/2, is a 66-pound neutered male Rottweiler-German shepherd mix. He has strength and enthusiasm to spare. Benson graduated from the Inmate Dog Alliance Project of Idaho (IDAPI) program, where he has learned basic commands and tricks. He is also house-trained, crate-trained and leash-trained. This guy will need a physically and mentally strong owner who will reinforce his training. While very playful and sometimes mischievous, Benson can also be quite sensitive. It is important that his new owner be firm but fair. Benson will also need plenty of daily exercise. He loves to play fetch, go for runs and romp around with other large dogs. Benson is best suited for a home with another large dog with a similar play style. While Benson is friendly with kids of all ages, due to his strength and size he will have to go to a home with kids 15 years or older. He also needs a home with no cats, chickens or other small animals.

Benson (#33395538) is available for adoption in Kennel 410 at the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St. in Boise. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Learn more and see other adoptable pets at
