Canyon County Pet of the Week: Maxx

Maxx
Maxx

Maxx, 10 months, is a sable and white Shepherd mix. Maxx was recently surrendered to the shelter when his owner’s travel schedule changed. He is a little unsure in his new surroundings but it likely to warm up. He’s house-trained and knows “sit,” “stay” and “lie down.” He still needs to work on leash manners, but has a good start. He gets along with most dogs and loves to be around his people. We have noticed that he reacts strongly to small dogs when passing by them, so there is a concern with small dogs, cats and other small animals. The shelter requires a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home, prior to adoption. Maxx is still a pup, so will need a family that can help him burn off energy. Once he gets his zoomies out, he settles down and is calm and gentle. He enjoys playing with toys and is treat-motivated. He’s neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations.

Through Saturday, July 8, all dogs over 6 months old, including Maxx, are 20 percent off.

Maxx is in the dog adoption wing at West Valley Humane Society, 5801 Graye Lane in Caldwell. You can learn about him and all adoptable pets at www.westvalleyhumanesociety.org.
