Ada County Pet of the Week: Rugby
Rugby, 1-1/2, is a handsome 52-pound Catahoula Leopard dog mix. He is a happy boy who still has a lot of puppy exuberance. Daily activity will be crucial to his happiness. He walks well on a leash and has enjoyed outings on the Greenbelt. Rugby graduated from the Inmate Dog Alliance Project of Idaho (IDAPI) training program earlier this year. He knows basic obedience commands and numerous tricks. He is also crate-trained. He will do best with a knowledgeable owner who is consistent with him and can provide the right amount of mental and physical activity. Rugby can be sensitive and insecure at times and responds best to positive training methods and a calm, patient approach. Rugby gets along well with most other dogs. Because of his size and energy level, he requires a home with older children.
Find Rugby (#30119874) in kennel 407 at the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St. in Boise. The shelter is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Because he is an IDAPI graduate, an application and interview is required before Rugby can go to his new home. Find more information about the IDAPI program and see other adoptable pets at idahohumanesociety.org.
