The votes are in. This is the Treasure Valley’s favorite sports bar for March Madness
Looking for a good spot to watch the NCAA Tournament men’s and women’s Final Fours this weekend?
The Treasure Valley has a lot of great sports bars — at least 32 of them, if you’ve been following along with the Idaho Statesman’s March Madness sports bar bracket. But after five rounds of voting, the Treasure Valley has officially named its favorite sports bar for watching March Madness:
The champion:
Hyde Park Pub and Grill
Location: 1501 N. 13th St.
What to know: Tucked away in Boise’s historic Hyde Park district, Hyde Park Pub and Grill has become a favorite for locals whether they’re watching sports or looking for a quick bite to eat on their way home from the Foothills or Camel’s Back Park.
With both indoor and outdoor seating areas, the bar describes itself on its website as a “pub first, sports second.”
But having won the Statesman’s sports bar bracket, sports may be a very close second. Inside the bar, you’ll find a cozy wooden interior with a main bar and plenty of liquor on the shelves. Step away from the bar and a collection of televisions around the room offer an easily accessible viewing experience.
And if you’re feeling a bit peckish, Hyde Park also has a full food menu, including all of the sports-watching necessities: nachos, pub jumbo wings, burgers and potato baskets. Happy Hour also runs from 4 to 6 p.m. daily.
The Runner-Up
The Shed
Location: 1010 S. LaPoint St.
What to know: Is Hyde Park a little bit too north for you? On the south side of downtown Boise, just south of the Boise River and next to Ann Morrison Park and Boise State University, you can find The Shed.
It’s probably no surprise that The Shed made it all the way to the championship round. Originally opened in 2017 to replace The Lift 2 Bar and Grill, The Shed is the perfect spot for both college students and sports fans alike — cheap beer options and plenty of televisions make it the perfect hangout for a Final Four watch party.
“It’s affordable for students and everyone else,” owner Jason Kovac previously told the Statesman.
The Shed offers a variety of bar favorites: wings, burgers and even $4 mimosas and Bloody Marys all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
Boise’s 30 other favorites
Although only two sports bars could make the championship round, there’s still a large range of exciting sports-watching locations in the Treasure Valley. Check out our map below of all 32 sports bars that participated in the Statesman’s bracket:
