Two students in the West Ada School District were among the winners in the Idaho State Department of Education’s Holiday Card Contest.

Lacie Bolen of Mary McPherson Elementary School was the first-grade winner. The kindergarten winner was Brock Bolen of Silver Sage Elementary.

The overall winner was Ashlynn Baldus, a second-grader at Orchards Elementary in the Lewison School District.

In her holiday card contest submission, Baldus drew a snowscape with a cardinal rested on a tree branch. Her artwork will be featured on the Idaho State Department of Education’s holiday greeting card. She also will receive a certificate and copies of the greeting card to share with her friends and family members.

“I am impressed by the artwork that was submitted this holiday season,” state schools Superintendent Sherri Ybarra said. “This contest allows students the opportunity to display their talents, and I would like to thank all students who made a submission this year — it goes to show that students in Idaho are not only dedicated to furthering their education, but show astounding work in extracurricular activities such as this.”

Other winners include:

Sixth grade: Lily Walsh, K12-IDVA Home School, Latah County School District

Fifth grade: Zoie Kessinger, Centenntial Elementary, Lewiston School District.

Fourth grade: Annika Huff, Centennial Elementary, Lewiston School District

Third grade: Eli Main, Orchards Elementary, Lewiston School District
