Heavy rain and severe thunderstorms were in the forecast of much of the region on Thursday, but the PGA Tour was able to complete the round in its entirety before perfect weather took over on Friday. The same can't be said for the weekend, though.
PGA Tour Delays Tee Times
On Friday night, the PGA Tour announced tee times wouldn't start until 10:30 a.m. ET due to inclement weather.
"Due to forecasted inclement weather, tee times for the third round of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson will be adjusted to approximately 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. CT in groups of three off Nos. 1 and 10," the PGA Tour's communications department announced.
TPC Craig Ranch Under Assault From World's Best
TPC Craig Ranch went under a $25 million renovation to make the course more difficult after Scottie Scheffler set a scoring record by going 31-under par over four days and winning the tournament by eight shots in 2025.
That renovation doesn't appear to have gone as planned. On Friday afternoon Si-Woo Kim fired an 11-under, 60 to move to 18-under through two rounds as he took a commanding five-shot lead.
Kim had a chance to card just the 16th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history when he sat in the fairway on No. 18. However, he airmailed the green and had his chip check up much sooner than he expected, leaving him with a 19-foot putt he left short.
He eventually got a bogey on the hole and settled for a 60.
"I hit it great and putted great," he said after the round. "So, everything was perfect, other than the last hole. I'll still take it. Sixty is hard, but I was a little bit thinking about the 59 after I make that on 17. It was a little bit of like adrenaline."
Kim holds a five-shot lead over Jackson Suber, Wyndham Clark, Kensei Hirata, Sungjae Im and Scottie Scheffler.
