What’s in store for Boise area in November? Steelheads, Garden aGlow, holiday events

Can you believe 2022 is only two months away?!

Soon many of us will be gathered around a table surrounded by family, ready to dive in to a delicious turkey feast. Yes, the holiday of second and third helpings, and eating leftover pumpkin pie with coffee for breakfast, is coming right up.

As we count the days until Thanksgiving, there are a few festive events that can be shared with friends and loved ones in the meantime.

Got a hankering for chocolate? The annual Craft and Chocolate Affaire at the Nampa Civic Center is your place on Nov. 5-6. Indulge in chocolate-covered strawberries, decadent chocolate pies and cakes, and gourmet fudge. In addition to satisfying your sweet tooth, you can shop for holiday gifts from more than 100 artisans.

Wanna see the Christmas trees? You can, but virtually this year. The Canyon County Festival of Trees goes online with an auction Nov. 24-30. All funds continues to benefit the Nampa and Caldwell Meals on Wheels programs. The Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event altogether, with hopes of returning safely in 2022.

Are you drawn to the lights? There are a couple of places to put you in that sparkly atmosphere you so desire. The Winter Wonderland at Indian Creek Plaza (Nov. 19-21) will have lights throughout downtown Caldwell, in addition to ice skating, shopping and visits with Santa. And, of course, you’ll want to wander through the Idaho Botanical Garden grounds for the annual Winter Garden aGlow (Nov. 25-Dec. 31) to enjoy that glorious twinkle twinkle, complete with holiday music, burn barrels for warmth, and free cookies and hot cocoa.

Enjoy a little rowdiness? Catch an Idaho Steelheads hockey game as they take on the Adirondack Thunder and the Allen Americans this month in downtown Boise.

Note: Check with event websites or social media before attending. Events might be canceled or postponed after press deadline because of COVID-19, or might have new rules put in place. At Boise city-sponsored events with fewer than 250 people, attendees must wear masks indoors, as well as outdoors if social distancing can’t be maintained. Boise events with 250 people or more require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon entry. Ford Idaho Center and other venues may also require proof of vaccination or a negative test, depending on requests from performers.
