Big September Calendar: Fall for art, corn mazes and lasers — in person and virtually

Can you believe September is here?

It’s kinda crazy how fast it arrived, but I’m all for it, because we are that much closer to fall.

I can’t tell you how ready I am to ditch this sweaty weather for sweater weather. Give me the temps to bust out the boots, scarves and beanies, please.

And typically around this time pumpkin spice creations start hitting the shelves. And I know some of you probably couldn’t care less (I feel the eye rolls), but I am welcoming the seasonal treats a bit more this year. Who needs the comfort of being wrapped up with a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte right about now? That’s what I thought!

September is also known for some pretty iconic events, some of which still will take place this year, but will look a bit different because of COVID-19.

For instance, the 66th annual Art in the Park will move online. Shop to support more than 100 artists and crafts people, and the Boise Art Museum, from Sept. 10-18 at boiseartmuseum.org/art-in-the-park.

The annual St. Luke’s FitOne 5k, 10k and half-marathon is also going virtual. Participants can choose to run anywhere and anytime between Sept. 18-26.

Unfortunately, the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic originally scheduled for Sept. 2-6 at Ann Morrison Park has been canceled.

But some events remain in-person for now.

Visit Linder Farms and Lowe Family Farmstead (both open Sept. 18) for corn mazes, pumpkin patches and other family-friendly activities in the run-up to Halloween season. This will be the last year for Linder Farms.

For those looking for something a tad more spooky, The Haunted World opens Sept. 11.

And if you’re in the mood for some spectacular views, check out the Lights and Lasers event Sept. 24-27 in Twin Falls.

Have fun and stay safe if you do decide to venture out. And since cancellations are a consistent part of our new normal right now, please confirm events before attending.
