Here’s how to recycle Christmas trees and discard other holiday items in Boise area
The holidays are done, but there’s still work to wrap things up. This next week, take a break from writing your thank you cards and recycle your holiday decorations. Here’s a look at how to recycle trees, wreaths and other holiday items, and what you will have to toss.
The tree

Caldwell: You can drop the tree — with all lights, ornaments and other items removed — in the gravel parking lot at 21st Avenue and Arthur Street, north of Caldwell Bowl, 2121 Blaine St. between now and Jan. 15.
Eagle: Trees that have been cleaned of all decoration will be picked up curbside from now until Jan. 10 on your regular day of service.

After that your can drop off trees at no charge until Monday, Jan. 13, at the Ada County Landfill transfer station, 2130 W. Other holiday stuff

▪ Foam peanuts and bubble wrap can go in the Hefty Orange Energy Bag if you have that service in Boise, Garden City, Meridian and Eagle. Otherwise it goes in the trash bin.
▪ Ribbons and bows should be thrown in the trash or reused for another holiday.
▪ Gift bags that can’t be reused must be thrown away if they’re laminated or otherwise decorated.
▪ Wrapping paper that is metallic, glittered, felted or coated goes into the trash.
▪ Broken glass and plastic ornaments get thrown in the trash, too.
