Idaho had 5 winning tickets that were only 1 number away from the Mega Millions drawing
The largest Mega Millions Jackpot in history, set at $1.6 billion, was drawn Tuesday night. Did you win any of the loot?
Here are the winning numbers: 28, 70, 5, 62, 65; Mega Ball 5.
According to Mega Millions, on jackpot-winning ticket was sold in South Carolina.
“Idaho had five winning tickets that were only one number away from sharing in the jackpot prize,” according to a press release from David Workman with the Idaho Lottery. “Those tickets matched four of the first five numbers and had the Megaball number.”
A Kuna man, Aaron Rosa, was one of the people to hit four of the first five numbers as well as the Megaball number. He won $30,000 last night.
Idaho had over 68,000 winning tickets worth $434,600 in the Mega Millions drawing.
The jackpots have increased in recent years due to changes in the ticketing system, according to ABC News. Ticket prices have increased from $1 to $2. Additionally, odds of winning a $1 million prize improved from 1 in 18.49 million to 1 in 12.6 million. Conversely, the odds of winning the jackpot fell from 1 in 258 million to 1 in 302 million, ABC said.
“Longer odds for the jackpot and better odds for all of the other prize levels,” Mega Million Group spokeswoman Carole Gentry told ABC. “It increases the chance of winning the second tier million dollar prize and the lower prizes. And it allows the jackpots to increase at a faster larger rate.”
