Meridian Police Department

A 26-year-old woman died at a local hospital Tuesday after she was struck by a concrete truck while using a crosswalk at a busy Meridian intersection, according to a release from police.

The Ada County coroner identified the woman Wednesday as Sandy Jaqueline Hernandez-Nuno of Meridian. Her cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.

Hernandez-Nuno was struck as she crossed Ustick Road at the corner with Eagle Road. It was reported at 5:25 p.m.

Police say she was walking south across Ustick in the crosswalk, and the driver of a concrete truck was turning east onto Ustick from Eagle Road. The woman was struck by the right front tire of the truck, police said.

The crash is under investigation by Meridian Police and Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

The 46-year-old driver has not been cited. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
