No, it wasn’t just you. Tuesday was the rainiest October day in 18 years.
Boise has received 0.93 inches of rain on Tuesday as of 7 p.m., marking the most rainfall for a day in 2018 and the most since June 12, 2017, according to the National Weather Service in Boise. The previous record for Oct. 9 was 0.61 inches in 1911.
It is the most precipitation for an October day since Oct. 12, 2000. Boise generally receives 0.75 inches of precipitation on a given day just once a year, the NWS said.
The high rainfall is due to a low-pressure system, according to NWS meteorologist Katy Branham.
Branham said she expects the heaviest rains to be finished later this evening.
“The heaviest activity should be gone by about 9 p.m.,” Branham said.
